In this article I’ll break down the absurd arguments commonly used by Jefferson apologists. The absurd arguments used to justify Jefferson We must work to expose and dismantle this abhorrent perspective. This is one of the drivers of institutionalized racism. The steadfast refusal to even consider the relationship from Hemings’s perspective demonstrates that many modern Americans still harbor the belief that slaves were and are sub human. Even when you demonstrate the contradictions in their own thinking, they insist they are right. The worst part is that otherwise intelligent individuals will repeat propaganda arguments with a haughty and superior tone as if the issue has already been decided. There should be nothing controversial about denouncing the relationship between Hemings and Jefferson.
